Gold pips work differently from forex pips. This free XAUUSD pip calculator (also known as a gold pip calculator) uses the standard XAUUSD contract (100 oz) where $1 of price movement = 10 pips = $100 per standard lot. Enter your lot size and the size of the gold move to see the exact gold pip value and dollar profit or loss.
XAUUSD Pip Calculator is part of the free Aurex Trader calculator suite — 23 browser-based tools for gold (XAUUSD) and forex traders. Nothing is installed, no account is required, and every calculation runs locally in your browser.
Formula: P/L = Lot Size × 100 × Price Move ($) | 1 pip = $0.10 move | Pip value per 1 lot = $10
1 pip on XAUUSD equals a $0.10 movement in the gold price. So gold going from $2000.00 to $2001.00 is a 10-pip move. On 1 standard lot (100 oz), each pip is worth $10.
A $10 move on 1 standard lot (100 oz) = $1,000 profit or loss. That's why lot sizing on gold matters so much — small moves have large dollar consequences.
Because gold's contract size and price scale are different. FX majors trade in 100,000-unit lots at 4–5 decimal prices; gold trades in 100-oz lots at 2-decimal prices, which changes the pip mechanics.
